Clarifications re. northwoodparkchurch.blogspot.com

1) Northwoodparkchurch.blogspot.com is as an "unofficial" (and friendly) blog of pix and news re. the Church of Christ that meets in Northwood Park, Thunder Bay. It is one member in my "family" of blogs, which may be viewed by clicking on my "About Me" picture, devoted to various interests in my life.

2) Although our official name remains "The Northwood Park Church of Christ", we are currently discussing the best name to use to represent our relationship to "Churches of Christ" as well as to "The Church of Christ in Thunder Bay", i.e., the many other Christian congregations in the city with whom we co-operate in proclaiming the Good News of Christ.

Therefore, the name of the blog is more of an experiment on my part, a unofficial suggestion. For more info see "Comments".

3) The picture blog is intended to give viewers an up-to-date and accurate impression of Northwood Park Church, notably our recent activities. However, the more official information about who we are, meeting times, beliefs etc. should be derived from the official site. For more info see "Comments".

4) Admittedly, this "impression" comes through my "lens" for the most part. See Comments for a few suggestions for making the picture more complete.

Re. 2)

The "Restoration Movement" here refers to the one including the "Disciples of Christ", "Christian Churches" and "Churches of Christ".

The word/concept "restoration" is also used by others, such as the Mormons with whom we have no affiliation. (Several people have told me that that's who they thought we were.)

Understandably, some "Charismatics" also talk about the restoration of the Church as seen in the New Testament.

As a congregation, we do not reject what might be called the "Charismatic" gifts, but currently they have not been practised publicly in our gatherings.

Re. 3)

The "impression" given by the pix also includes the changes we have implemented together as a congregation in recent years according to Scripture as we understand it.

We realize that not everyone shares the same understanding and so I hope these pix help you see how we are different or similar to "Churches of Christ" you know; and how we are different or similar to other Christian churches in Thunder Bay.

This way, if you are considering participation, you can make an informed choice.

"Church of Christ" represents our origin, history and relationships, but I acknowledge that our use of musical instruments and the wider participation in leadership of both genders makes us resemble in some minds the Disciples or the Christian Churches.

Re. 4)

a) Send me your pictures. Prints are fine (I can scan them) but digital is preferred. I would also prefer you upload them somewhere and send me the link, rather than email them.

b) Ask to be added as a "Team Member" who can co-moderate this blog and upload your own stuff -- or --

c) Start your own unofficial blog and ask to be linked to the official site.

d) If you (or your minor child) are in a picture and are uncomfortable with it, ask me to have it removed and I will honour your request.
